我非常高興能在此會見來自大洋彼岸的加拿大商業(yè)界的朋友。“有朋自遠方來不亦樂乎?”這句古話可以表達我此刻的心情。
I am very pleased to meet my friends from the canadian business community on the other side of the pacific. My current feeling can be best expressed by an ancient chinese remark “ How delightful I am to have friends coming from afar!”
中國政府十分重視同加拿大雙邊經(jīng)貿(mào)關系的`發(fā)展，并且非常贊賞加中貿(mào)易理事會為加強我們這兩個偉大國家商業(yè)界的聯(lián)系而作出的努力和起到的橋梁作用。我感謝理事會所有成員為促進加中貿(mào)易所作出的努力。加拿大是一個工業(yè)發(fā)達，資源豐富的國家，中國則是一個勞動力充足，市場巨大的國家。我們希望看到加拿大的企業(yè)能夠充分利用自己在技術和財力上的優(yōu)勢，贏得中國市場。
The chinese government attaches great importance to the development of bilateral economic and trade relations and appreciates the efforts made by the canadianchinese trade council, serving as a bridge linking the business communities of our two great nations. I commend all the members of the council for their efforts in promoting trade with china. Canada is a country with well developed industries and abundant resources while china has plentiful supply of labor force and potential of huge market. We hope to see canadian enterprises can make full use of their technicle and fianancial advantages and compete well in the chinese market.
年會致辭
主席先生，我懷著非常愉快的心情出席本屆年會。值此大會開幕之際，我為能有機會就和平與發(fā)展問題進行發(fā)言謹向東道主致以深深的謝意。與此同時我向所有與會代表致以崇高的敬意。
Mr. Chairman, it is a great pleasure that I am here to attend this annual meeting. On the occasion of this opening ceremony, I would like to express my deep appreciation to the host for this opportunity to adress the topic of peace and development and pay my highest respect for all the reprasentatives present at the meeting.
這次會議為我們交換意見，消除誤解，達成共識提供了理想的場所。我愿借此機會就世紀之交建立一種世界政治與經(jīng)濟新格局，世界和平與發(fā)展的`前景以及聯(lián)合國的作用等問題闡述我國政府的立場和觀點。
This meeting provides us with an ideal arena where we will exchange views, clear misunderstandings and reach common ground. I would like to take this opportunity to elaborate on the positions and views of my government on the issues concerning the establishment of a new international political and economic order at the turn of this century, the prospect of world peace and development and the role of the united nations.
外貿(mào)改革
我國政府強化了對外貿(mào)的控管，強化了商會這類中介機構的服務與協(xié)調功能。我們希望繼續(xù)加強外貿(mào)體制的改革，使外貿(mào)逐漸走向競爭，并使之受到諸如關稅，匯率和利率等法律以及經(jīng)濟手段的制約，所有這些都應有助于加速中國外貿(mào)的國際化進程，為我們宏觀經(jīng)貿(mào)局面的出現(xiàn)創(chuàng)造一個較好的環(huán)境。通過促進商貿(mào)業(yè)制造業(yè)農(nóng)業(yè)技術產(chǎn)業(yè)和銀行之間的更為密切的'合作，我們能為國際市場提供更多更好的出口產(chǎn)品。
Our government has stronger control over foreign trade and strenthens the servive and coordinations of such intermediate organizations as chambers of commerce. We hope to continue to strengthen the reform in our foreign trade system in order to gradually open foreign trade to competition and to get it under both legal and economic control such as tariffs, foreign exchanges and interest rates. All these should help speed up the internationalization of china’s foreign trade and create a better environment for bringing about our macro economics and trade. By promoting a closer cooperation among business and trade communities, manufacturing industries, agriculture, technology industries ans banks, we will be able to produce more and better export commodities for the international market.
處在我們這樣的情況，我們自然會成為一個大市場。為了發(fā)展我們的經(jīng)濟，提高我國人民的生活水平，我們需要進口先進的外國技術和產(chǎn)品。自從我們對外開放那時起，作為一個市場我們便開始吸引世界的注意。20年前，與中國有貿(mào)易關系的國家和地區(qū)還不到100個。現(xiàn)在已有250個國家和地區(qū)與中國建立了貿(mào)易關系。其中有半數(shù)直接投資于中外合資企業(yè)。
Given our situation, we can help build a large market. To develop our economy and to improve the life of our people, we need to import advanced foreigh technology and products. We began to attract greater world’s attention as a market when we opened oyr door to the outside world. Twenty years ago there were no more than 100 countries and regions that had trade relations with china. Now the number has reached closely to 250, half of which have direct investment in sino-foreign joint ventures.
